Kobudo Shinkokai Embu Shimogamo Jinja, Kyoto

At the very end of so-called "Golden Week," a string of national holidays beginning with the Emperor Showa's birthday (now officially "Greenery Day") on April 29, through Boy's Day on May 5, the Kobudo Shinkokai sponsors two hono embu at Kyoto shrines. May 4 at Shimogamo Jinja coincides with a local shrine festival, while May 5 at Shiramine Jinja is primarily for the benefit of the participants. Shinkokai members travel from all over Japan to take part in these two demonstrations.
